Many countries are increasing the age at which people can access retirement funding, encouraging mature-age workers to keep working. But if these mature-age workers lose motivation and disengage from their work, organisations pay a steep price in lost productivity. High performance and age-friendly management practices increase mature-age worker engagement by reducing concerns about age stereotypes. The researchers say “adopting the right management practices may be the key to ensuring that mature-age workers contribute to the organisation long past the traditional retirement age”.
